Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sichai Yojana-

Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sichai Yojana a new schemes by modi government-

Indian economy is mainly an agricultural economy. Over the past few years, apprehensions of the El Nino episode have kept cultivators and economists anxious. Quite a number of farmer suicides have also been reported across the country. Majority of these are connected to crop failure trailed by shortage of rainfall and insufficient irrigation. Food and retail price hike are obvious outcomes of the situation and this affects the country’s financial system. In 2014-15, food grain production in the country dropped by about 5.3 per cent.

In an effort to upgrade the agricultural efficiency, the government of India has designed a , the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY).

Features of the this new schemes by modi government-

As per the recent calculations, out of the 142 million hectares of farming land in India, only about 45 per cent has any provision for built up irrigation. The remaining agricultural farms are reliant only on rainfall for its irrigation requirements. A lag in rainfall or a total failure is dreadful for the farmers and deficiency in crop is the resultant problem countered by the people. The government of India calculates that by shelling out about INR 5300 crore an additional 6 lakh hectares of agricultural land can be brought under irrigational facilities. Apart from this, 5 lakh hectares of land will also receive the profits of drip irrigation as an effect. Small-irrigation schemes (“Har Khet Ko Pani”) and back to back irrigation resolutions will be the main intention of this system.

Apart from the irrigation work, INR 200 crore from this project will be kept aside as Agri-Tech Infrastructure Fund (ATIF) – this is required to improve the National Agricultural Market (NAM). This will provide cultivators easy exposure to the souks for sale of their goods.

Irrigation and preservation of water-

Preservation of water and reducing wastage is very important in order to irrigation amenities accessible to every farm in the country. This makes inauguration of continual water conservation habits and increment of water resources (More Crop Per Drop) just as necessary as inauguration of new irrigation amenities. This Project shall analyze a number of techniques to utilize civic water for these irrigation tasks. Water recycling shall hold a significant place in the accomplishment of the plan.

Supervision of this new schemes by modi government-

The outlining and execution of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana has been regionalized and the states shall now make district-level plans for its profitable accomplishment.

The long-term obedience to these District Irrigation Plans (DIP) and State Irrigation Plans (SIP) will be monitored by a National Steering Committee (NSC) with involvement from the numerous government departments and shall be supervised by the Union Ministers. The Prime Minister himself shall head the committee.

The employment of the project shall be supervised by a National Executive Committee (NEC), which shall be headed by the Vice-Chairman of the NITI Aayog.

The Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sichai Yojana is part of the pro-farmer acts and new schemes by modi government that the government aims to execute. Previously the Government of India decided to bring about numerous changes to the Land Acquisition Act, 2013 which would help the farmers whose land have been acquired for the execution of various schemes. All these projects are targeted to help the poor population of the country.
